Spui 25

Eight English literature experts talk about that one book that has changed their lives and still inspires them now. This evening celebrating literature might just persuade you to start devour their books as well.
Of all the books you have read, which one meant the most to you? What is the best book you have ever read? Which book has had the most unforgettable and undeniable influence on your life? You might have a book that springs to mind immediately, or perhaps you have yet to discover your absolute favourite book of English literature.
Whichever is the case, this might all change, because during this minifestival, eight writers, journalists and teachers of English literature will tell you about the book they think changed the world. Or at least, their world. They will each tell you about that one book they think you should read. In fast-paced speeches they will each tell you why the text of their choice was mind-blowing or life-changing to them. Perhaps you will find your next favourite in the choices of Luc Herman, Gawie Keijser, NiƱa Weijers, Auke Hulst, Jane Lewty, Joyce Goggin, Rudoph Glitz and Tara McDonald.
All this book-talk will be coordinated by our host Dan Hassler-Forest. Last but not least: we heartily advice you to take your own favourite book with you, so you can subject the rest of the public to a cross-examination on the books underneath their arms.
